Charlton Media Group expands with the acquisition of five established regional business magazines
Charlton Media Group to launch Asian Communications, Middle East Communications, Middle East Broadcast & Satellite, Asian Power and Energy International
Singapore (PRWEB) July, 2003 – CHARLTON MEDIA GROUP, a leading producer of trade publications in Asia, has acquired five leading business to business titles in the telecoms, broadcast and energy sectors. The titles are Asian Communications, Middle East Communications, Middle East Broadcast & Satellite, Asian Power and Energy International.
Charlton Media Group Managing Director Tim Charlton said: We are excited by the opportunity to grow our business in the areas of power, telecoms and broadcast. The markets in Asia are beginning to show signs of growth, and these new acquisitions complement our existing portfolio of business to business publications. Having these leading regional titles now based in Asia will bring an extra edge to editorial and make the magazines even more relevant to our readers in the region."
Charlton Media Group now publishes ten leading business to business publications in the region, and a further five in Australia through its affiliate First Charlton Communications.
The magazines were acquired from UK-based Icom Publications Ltd, a former leading player in the trade publications field. They will be revamped and redesigned to provide fresh editorial focus and top-notch coverage of the Asian and Middle East communications and energy sectors.
Their new look will be unveiled at the official launch scheduled for September 2003 at the prestigious China Club Singapore.
With these acquisitions, Charlton Media Group has appointed Yogi Thakker as its International Group Sales Director to spearhead its growth into Asia and the Middle East. He brings with him five years extensive publishing sales experience in the region. His career took an exciting new turn in 1997 when he pioneered Icoms regional headquarters as Asia Regional Sales Manager. Thereafter, Mr Thakker spent two years as Asia Sales Director at Fairfax Business Media.
He said: Charltons enterprising spirit is evident in its ability to build strength, maintain a positive outlook, and take advantage of recovering markets. Whilst other publishers are merely struggling to survive, the team at Charlton are ready for the next phase of growth."
The acquisitions of these established titles, some of which are more than 15 years old, perfectly complements Charlton Media Groups existing portfolio of trade magazines, each with a focus that is unique to its respective region. They include Asian MobileNews, Asian Banking&Finance, Asian Broadcaster, .NetAsia and Customer Connect.
Asian Communications and Middle East Communications will focus on voice and data communications, offering a wealth of information about the communications and IT markets in these key regions.
Middle East Broadcast & Satellite will be the premier authority on the broadcast and satellite sectors, giving unprecedented coverage of developments and trends in the Middle East. This will complement our existing publication -Asian Broadcaster.
Asian Power and Energy International will provide industry leaders with in-depth knowledge and act as a voice for the crucial energy and power industries.
The magazines new publishing Headquarters are now in Singapore, central to all Asian markets and in close proximity to the Middle East.
