New Initiative to Simplify State Taxes

(PRWEB) July, 2003 -- Does the process of filing your tax returns seem like an overwhelming challenge each year? For many, the answer to this question is a resounding "yes." If you fall into this catagory you may be releived to know that help is on the way in the form of an initiative petition designed to simplify state taxes.

Roland Boucher, Chairman of United Californians for Tax Reform announced that his organization is now gathering signatures to qualify the Alternative Income Tax Rate Initiative Statute .

This initiative would allow all californians taxpayers who earn less $100,000 if married filing jointly or $50,000 if single to file file their tax return on a single page tax form with a simple easy to use instruction that they can easikly file themselves without sloging through the 63 pages of unintelligible instuctions now required.

Each taxpayer would be allowed a genreous standard deduction of $14,040 if married filing jontly or $7020 if filingl singly. A single tax rate of 2.5% would apply.

Tax computations would be as easy as one,two three..
1 add up your taxable income
2 subtract the standard deduction
3 multiply by 0.025

Initiative supporters need to collect roughly 500,000 signatures by mid-August in order to qualify for the March 2004 primary ballot. Additional information about the initiative can be found at the sponsor's website http://www.taxreform2000.org and clicking on casimpletax , which contains a petition that can be downloaded and circulated.

Petitions can also be obtained by writing to CA Simple Tax, 14252 Culver drive # 728 Irvine CA 92604, or sending an e mail to CA.Simpletax@earthlink.net
