RECLAIM $60,000 IN LOST BUSINESS PROFITS!

In the business world, technology problems translate to increased overhead and lost productivity. The time that workers spend hunting for answers, searching for ways to get things done, trying to communicate clearly, and solving technological problems all cost businesses huge amounts of time and money. It's time businesses take control of technology and reclaim their lost profits!

Todays businesses rely on technology for almost everything, from tracking inventory and bookkeeping to maintaining client files and communications. And why shouldnt they? After all, technology can help increase productivity and enable a company to run more efficiently. But according to technology expert Brian Nichelson, a business can only reap the benefits of technology if its workers know how to use it effectively.

In the business setting, technology problems translate to increased overhead and lost productivity,” says Nichelson. The time that workers spend hunting for answers, searching for ways to get things done, trying to communicate clearly, and solving technological problems all cost businesses huge amounts of time and money.”

For example, suppose a company has an employee who earns $40,000 annually and who routinely spends three hours per week talking to tech support, hunting down the IT guy, or even creating a report manually because he cant figure out how to use a spreadsheet program. In one week, that employee costs the company $60 in lost productivity. In one year, that adds up to $3,000 in lost time. Now imagine if you have twenty employees in the same situation. Youre losing $60,000 a year!

At the other end of the spectrum, a manager may make a bad decision about what technology to buy, how to implement it, and when to replace it. This, in turn, creates problems for the manager, as well as the employees – problems Nichelson says should not be ignored. Technology can make or break a business. If you ignore technology problems, they only get worse, thus beginning a vicious cycle.” Instead of ignoring or surrendering to the problems, its time workers take control of technology. Only then will they be able to thrive and take their business to the next level.

Brian Nichelson is an expert in the field of technology and has been bridging the gap between technology and people for over 25 years. As Founder and Executive Director of TechMatters Institute, Mr. Nichelson helps organizations create implementation and learning strategies that enable users to actually use the technology at hand.

You can learn more about how to take control of technology and use it to better your business in Nichelsons new book, Taming Technology: You Can Control The Beast (Cameo Publications, $15.95, ISBN 0-9715739-6-4).
