July 17, 2003, New York City

Major League Cricket, a Somerset, NJ based cricket development and sports promotion company announced today ambitious plans to promote cricket in the U.S.

To begin with, Major League Cricket will organize the inaugural Tri-State Cup, an event for the state and youth teams of New York, New Jersey and Connecticut. The state and junior events will run parallel starting Aug 30 and culminating on Sep 23, 2003. Games will be played on Saturdays and Sundays at the Floyd Bennett Cricket Field in Brooklyn, NY.

The senior event will carry total prize money of $10,000. The details of the prize money and a full event schedule are expected to be released shortly.

The team selection process is already underway and all the top leagues in the region are expected to provide their stars for their respective state teams.

Bernard J. Cameron, the founder President and CEO of Major League Cricket said that cricket is one of the worlds most popular sports and its following in the U.S. is growing rapidly. We want to provide both the players and the followers regular opportunities to play and watch the best cricket in this country. The inaugural Tri State Cup is a step in that direction."

Mr. Cameron said that MLC is committed to the objective of developing cricket along professional lines in the U.S. and will organize events regularly for both senior and youth cricketers across the country. Details about MLCs further plans will be made available at a later date.

The junior event of the Tri State Cup is being organized under the umbrella of Major League Crickets United States Cricket Development Program", a non-profit body engaged in promoting grass roots and youth cricket in the United States.
