TailWind Announces the Appointment of Ralph Eschenbach to Technical Advisory Board
TailWind today announced the appointment of Ralph Eschenbach to their Technical Advisory Board. As Chief Technology Officer for Trimble Navigation Ltd, Ralph pioneered GPS technology and has steered Trimble to the leadership position in their market. Ralph will help guide the technical development of Tailwind product development.
Foster City, Calif. (PRWEB) July 30, 2003 -- TailWind today announced the appointment of Ralph Eschenbach to their Technical Advisory Board. As Chief Technology Officer for Trimble Navigation Ltd, Ralph pioneered GPS technology and has steered Trimble to the leadership position in their market. Ralph will help guide the technical development of Tailwind product development.

Since 1994, Ralph Eschenbach has served as Vice President and Chief Technology Officer at Trimble Navigation Ltd. He joined Trimble in 1983 as Vice President of Engineering. Before joining Trimble he was Department Manager at Hewlett Packard Labs, where he was responsible for research in communication protocols and systems. While at HP, Ralph developed the first working GPS (Global Positioning System) receiver which demonstrated the potential for addressing a low-cost market for a positioning sensor.
Mr. Eschenbach has authored over thirty papers on GPS receiver's design and testing. He has been the recipient over a dozen patents. In 1987, he won the Institute of Navigation's "Better Mousetrap Award" for innovation in GPS receiver design. In 1991, he won Discover Magazine's award for "Innovation in Computers and Technology". Mr. Eschenbach works part time as a Venture Partner for Osprey Ventures, a mid-sized venture capital firm located in Palo Alto, CA. In this capacity, he focuses on the wireless, semiconductor, and internet sectors. He is also Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Community Education Center, a non-profit multicultural preschool serving low-income children in the Redwood City, CA.
