Organize, Manage Millions of Files With Rocket Retriever
Program to index and search for files on your hard drive. Extremely fast lookup, high capacity makes this a useful document management program for business.
With ever-increasing hard drive capacity, the need to manage and organize large quantities of documents and files is growing more important. Pankhurst Algorithmics announces a unique file management tool for both home and business use, Rocket Retriever 3, available for Windows computers (95/98/ME/XP/NT/2000).
Rocket Retriever 3 indexes any and all files on your hard drive. This index is then searched for file name matches based on text you type in, returning results as you type. Matches are based on full or partial file names entered, regardless of actual location on the drive. This allows quick searching for files without knowing the full file name, or exactly where they are found.
Results are immediate even with millions of files indexed, and pattern matching and filtering also let you narrow your search down quickly. In addition, results can be sorted onscreen in a display similar to Windows Explorer, by file name, path, size, type, and file date.
Rocket Retriever enhances file management by allowing files to be opened for editing or review (such as executing Microsoft Paint to edit a selected .BMP file), executed (if a program), or else opening/exploring the directory where the file is located.
File indexing is based on Windows extensions, with the initial program settings limited to extensions Windows knows how to open. This provides novice users consistent feedback with search results. Advanced users can adjust the settings to allow searches on any or all files found on their Windows system, as well as networked (mapped) drives.
Rocket Retriever 3 provides a convenient way to organize file information on any computer. Using the program, offices can manage a centralized database of documents, images, or other files; users can check for moved or misplaced files and new file entries such as virus payloads; and home users can keep track of favorite files (such as MP3s) across multiple hard drives, both local and networked. Immediate feedback combined with wildcard filtering lets you quickly search for lost/misplaced files wherever they are.
Designed to be easy to use for novice and advanced users alike, Rocket Retriever is structured to avoid problems common to many Windows programs. Control focus issues are often confusing for new users, appearing as unresponsive edit controls and list boxes. Rocket Retriever monitors all keystrokes to make sure that they are sent to the proper control, no matter which one is actually in focus. For example, the right and left arrow keys always move the cursor in the edit box, while the up and down arrow keys always affect the search result list. The program also uses text coloring to highlight where the match is found in each file name listed. Additionally, a hot key interface and tray icon provides easy access to the program at all times.
Priced at $22.95 (U.S.), Rocket Retriever 3 is available from Pankhurst Algorithmics, 506-1185 Yates Street, Victoria, British Columbia, Canada V8V 3N1.
