German Oil Painting Recovered from Hitler's Bunker

An original Third Reich painting may have actually been recovered from Hitler's bunker. It is signed and dated 1945 by a Third Reich artist, H. Van Snyder, and has a bullet hole conspicuous in the lower right hand quadrant.

German Oil Painting Recovered from Hitler's Bunker

Phoenix Arizona

It was announced by one of this city's premier collectors and art appraisers that he was making available a painting whose history can convincingly be traced to the last days of World War II and whose subject matter hung in the fuehrerbunker of Adolf Hitler during the last days of the war.

Geli at Berchtesgaden, by Nazi artist H. Van Snyder, is a highly valuable, rare find in the genre of Third Reich art as it is one of the last commissioned paintings by Hitler during World War II. This oil rendering depicts Hitler's first girlfriend, Geli Raubal, and his favorite retreat the "Eagles Nest" at Berchtesgarden. The painting is said to have hung in Hitler's bunker. The bullet hole in the lower right quadrant of the painting possibly occurred when Hitler committed suicide at the end of the war.

For more on this painting, go to: http://www.artaddicts.com and browse the story to see the various shots of the painting, including the bullet hole and signatures.

Both lithograph prints as well as the original are being offered at the site.
