A Novel After 50 Years
It took him 50 years, but H. David Blalock has finally published his first novel. "I first published in a college magazine in 1971, the Isthmian Inklings in the Panama Canal Zone," Blalock said. "But that was nowhere near a novel."
Memphis, Tennessee (PRWEB) August 2, 2003 - "It only took 50 years," said H. David Blalock of writing his first novel. "I'm going to have to write faster or I'll never get the whole series out."
Blalock is a writer of speculative fiction, that general term encompassing science-fiction, fantasy, and horror. He began writing short stories in his teens while living in Florida and continued even when he went overseas with his family in 1970 to the Republic of Panama. Over the years, he drafted and finished several books, none of which survived the wait. When he returned to the US in 1977, he brought a wife, two daughters, and the outline for a series of high fantasy books.
"Thran Reborn: Book One of the Thran Chronicles", the first novel by H. David Blalock to be offered to the public, is the story of Andalarn Thran, scion of House Thran, who is trying to restore his family to its former glory. He faces a blood feud with the rival House Suum and the machinations of the politically oriented Tialsar priesthood, both of whom are set on keeping Andalarn from realizing his dream. The book is the first of a series of six, set to be published one about every six months.
Blalock is using Booklocker.com, an online self-publishing company and bookstore. Booklocker has been great for me," he said. Their service is excellent, their people are friendly. Self-publishers can sometimes be as difficult to deal with as royalty publishers. Booklocker is the exception."
I have wanted to share these stories for some time," Blalock said. I finally decided it was time to do it."
After 50 years, it certainly is.
