(PRWEB) August, 2003 -- Area business professionals are invited to attend a Business Before Breakfast" networking meeting on August 7 that will feature Jeffrey Hathaway, University of Connecticuts new Director of Athletics. No stranger to UConn, Hathaway had been Senior Associate Athletic Director there for over 10 years before taking a position about two years ago as Director of Athletics at Colorado State University. Hathaway was recently hired back at UConn to replace Lew Perkins, who resigned to become athletic director at the University of Kansas. Hathaway worked with Perkins at both UConn and the University of Maryland, and considers him his mentor.
During Hathaways previous tenure at UConn, he supervised the day-to-day operations of the Division of Athletics. He played a key role in the upgrade of UConn's football program to Division I-A status and the building of Rentschler Field, the new home of Husky football, located in East Hartford. After last weeks ribbon cutting ceremony, Rentschler stadium is scheduled to host its first event on August 8.
Previously, Hathaway served for eight years in a number of capacities at the University of Maryland, his alma mater,. He also worked as Director of Community Relations for the Chicago White Sox from 1981-82, and as Public Relations Assistant for the Washington Redskins in 1980.
