Tipic, Inc. announces breakthrough in personal publishing and instant messaging: MOTIME.COM, the first turnkey blogging platform with integrated instant messaging, allows ISP’s, telecom operators and community sites to increase traffic, stickiness and revenues.

NEW YORK, NY, and MILAN, ITALY (PRWEB) August 6, 2003 – The creator of Europe’s most popular blogging platform announces the debut of Mo’time, it’s English-language personal publishing service. With offices in New York and Milan, Tipic Inc., a provider of Open Protocol Instant Messaging (IM) platforms, is already known for its popular Splinder.it blogging platform, which has grown in just 8 months into the largest such service in Europe.

“Blogging” is the act of publishing personal weblogs or diaries on the Web, and is one of the fastest growing new activities on the Internet for all types of users – young and old, men and women, newbies and experienced users.

Mo’time, which signifies “more than instant messaging”, is the first blogging platform to have fully integrated an IM and alerting system. “It is the ability to subscribe to your favorite blogs, and receive alerts in real-time whenever that blog is updated or commented upon, that is the real leap forward,” says Marco Palombi, Tipic’s CEO.

Mo’time bloggers with compatible mobile phone on GPRS networks never miss a thing. “You're always on," asserts Palombi, "if you have a blog on Mo'time. The next time someone leaves a comment on your blog, or updates a blog that you subscribe to, you get a notification right there in your pocket." Tipic currently offers free downloads of its innovative and Mo’time-compatible wireless instant messenger, TipicME, directly from its website.

For ISP’s and mobile telecom operators looking to increase revenue sharing synergies for their always-on 2.5G and 3G networks, this looks like a killer application. The community-building mechanisms dramatically increase both traffic and stickiness, while the traffic driven onto the wireless networks directly increases ARPU (Average Revenue Per User).

Everything about the platform is designed to heighten the user’s experience of being connected to a community, using tools that have been shown to be the most popular with current users -- instant messaging, web logs and wireless messaging.

"We're seeing beta testers using Mo’time in very interesting ways,” adds Palombi. “If you're a teenager and you're thinking about going out, and you have a group blog on Mo’time, you can use that blog for organizing a night out or a soccer match -- you just post on your blog and everybody gets a notification. It begins to merges the two worlds, Web and wireless communications," he continues.

"People go online just to see if other people posted on their blog, if they've left a comment”, Palombi says, “but on Mo’time, it's very immediate. You instantly get a notification, so you can react. You start an instant, spontaneous conversation ... which is kept in a public archive."

The Tipic platform Mo’time runs on is being offered either as a stand-alone content management product or as an ASP service for mobile operators, ISP’s and Web publishers. Mo’time.com, a free blogging service, is currently online at http://www.motime.com. In Q3 2003, Mo’time will introduce new features such as photoblogging, file hosting, domain name registration and a suite of advanced publishing tools.

For Tipic, a member of the Jabber Software Foundation, the experience with Mo’time also is expected to demonstrate the flexibility of the Open XMPP Protocol for instant messaging. Mo’time’s content management system is built upon the open-source Drupal platform.
