"100 GREATEST U.S. COINS" BOOK RECEIVES AWARDS
New "coffee table" book about the 100 greatest U.S. coins receceives two prestigeous publishing awards at national coin show.
Baltimore, MD (PRWEB) August 13, 2003 -- Both the Numismatic Literary Guild and the Professional Numismatic Guild have chosen "100 Greatest U.S. Coins" by Jeff Garrett and Ron Guth as the best numismatic book of the year. This "coffee table book," published by Whitman Publishing of Atlanta, GA, received the distinguished honors recently during the American Numismatic Association ("ANA") coin convention in Baltimore.
The Numismatic Literary Guild criteria include a book's impact on numismatics, reader appeal, research, printing and graphics. The Professional Numismatic Guild's "Robert Friedberg Award" recognizes the top coin book of the year, as determined by the exclusive membership of PNG's leading coin dealers.
"100 Greatest U.S. Coins" by veteran coin experts Garrett and Guth, appeals to collectors and noncollectors with its large color photographs of each coin accompanied by facinating historical and numismatic text. The 1804 Draped Bust dollar was ranked as #1 followed by various denominations and metals.
"We believe the list we developed will satisfy the majority of collectors" stated the authors. Many coins such as the 1909-S Lincoln V.D.B are still affordable to the average collector.
"We are proud to be recognized by these scholarly associations," stated Mary Counts, president of Whitman Publishing LLC, "our authors and staff strive to create quality coin-related books that appeal to the casual collector as well as the expert. We have other interesting numismatic books in the research stages for the hobby...we are committed to continuing the Whitman legacy."
