One Mans Struggle to Get a Job has changed his skill set completely.
After looking for a position for more than ten months one man in the information technology arena has decidedly changed his strategy and found new skills. Glasco Taylor of Charlotte, North Carolina has developed http://www.glasco.org into a marketing blitz of his skills, talents and much, much more.
(PRWEB) August 15, 2003 -- While looking for a new position in the IT arena, Glasco has had to reinvent his methods of searching for a position in this tightening economy. He has been a Unix Systems Administrator since 1994, working as a contractor through his earlier years to gain experience and learn varying corporate culture. He began his career like many others, in the trenches. His goals varied over the years.
Life for the Taylor's has changed since that infamous day in November of 2002. At this point Glasco is merely attempting to maintain a moderate lifestyle for him and his family.
After losing his position in corporate America, Glasco never blamed others for his departure. "The new boss they brought in began cleaning house and unfortunately, I was not picked to play this round", Glasco remembers. He recalls this lesson from early childhood before he developed coordination, never treat success and failure any differently. More than this, he was not very happy with his duties. "Thus this might not be a bad thing...it all happens for a reason, oh and keep the faith!", he continues.
As he was released from his employment on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving, he dare not tell his family the news until Monday of the next week. At this point, the job search was cranked up to full blast. Over 75 resumes were sent out in the first week. (This is a simple task when all of your perspective employers only receive resumes in e-mail format.) This went on for weeks, always thinking, well the next resume might be the ticket. He was so confident that he did not file for unemployment until April of 2003. There were no call-backs. No interviews. Even the contracting companies stopped responding.
So, now that the funds were running low and the debts were mounting, Glasco began to post his resume in every possible place, www.putyourresumehere.com and www.wegotajob4u.com. Nothing was panning out, only two phone interviews with long shot positions.
Then it happened, as usual Glasco got up and went to church as he did every Sunday. At church that faithful morning, Glasco experienced a epiphany. It is all summed up with his grandfather's voice reciting, "If you always do what you always did, then always get what you always got." So he sets out to drastically changed his approach.
After spending 8 years in the Internet, IT, Unix Admin game he decided to simply establish his own site and launch his "Get a Job Campaign" at http://www.glasco.org/. In the next 36 hours the site began to come together.
In defining himself, Glasco has also redefined himself. He has pushed his name to the top of search engines and is capturing Internet traffic through e-marketing. His search engine optimization skills are being honed through working with search engines like google.com and yahoo.com. He has also found new avenues for effective low cost print advertising and publicity.
The site is filled with information, as well as inspirational excerpts from a variety of sources. He is developing his site to showcase his many talents and to help others that face the same trials in this economy. It is a site well worth checking out and visiting frequently, as he adds content almost daily.
He does not have a job today, but he is encouraged by his faith, family and tenacity.
