Los Angeles, CA -- August 2003 -- Melissa van der Scafe is stringing successes, following up the July launch of her highly anticipated premiere cd, urban peasant, with SHOWTIMEs license of You Never Say Goodbye" (Track #3) for its original movie, The Great Commission.
Rockmond Dunbar, 29, makes his directorial debut pulling double duty for the network. First, Mr. Dunbar (Kenny Chadway") stars with Vanessa Williams (Maxine Chadway") in SHOWTIMEs original series Soul Food, currently preparing to air its fifth season (Mr. Dunbars resume also boasts such guest appearances on Felicity, Girlfriends, and The Practice).
Second, as the Director of The Great Commission. Having completed this directorial task for the SHOWTIME drama earlier this year, Rock" had the honor of an all-star cast including Clint Howard (The Missing), Oba Babatunde (Soul Food), Ravi Kapoor (Crossing Jordan) and Joe Torry (Lockdown). The Great Commissions release is slated for airtime this fall, though no date has been set.
You Never Say Goodbye" will be the only song containing lyrics used in the film.
The skinny: a prostitute who believes shes Gods angel. The story: shot with a semi-thriller slant, our heroine transforms the lives of the men she meets, as the audience is given a true glimpse of her true angelic effect.
Only one month into Melissa van der Scafes urban peasant release and three weeks into an intense national radio campaign, one-song stirs from the cd are evolving into featured pieces and are already breaking into steady rotation.
Femmusic.com raves, Her music is bold and alternative and is ready to break big." Come see why at www.CDbaby.com/vanderscafe.
