DESIGN TV ANNOUNCES THE DESIGN TV AWARDS 2003

Design prize for digital multimedia formats and film prize ceremony August 2003

BERLIN, GERMANY (PRWEB) August 27, 2003 -– DESIGN TV, the European television station covering architecture and design, presents the DESIGN TV Awards 2003: Europes first competition for digital multimedia formats and films. Featuring architecture, industrial design, interiors, fashion and art, it will take place on August 28, 2003 at Potsdamer Platz in Berlin, following a successful premier on June 7, 2002.

The DESIGN TV Awards seeks innovative design entries, demonstrating experimental boldness, trend-setting design expertise and unparalleled realization in multimedia and film. Awards are given based on originality, clarity, expression, presentation and quality.

Three-minute entries from 5 different countries were submitted by April 15, 2003; presentations were on CD Rom, Beta and mini DV, as well as flash formats and DVDs, in the areas of design, architecture, interiors, art (including commercials), fashion, industrial design and web design. Entries that set high design standards and did not belong in the aforementioned categories, or special interactive formats, qualified for a special prize.

Nominated entries will be documented by DESIGN TV in a weekly feature on German Free TV.
All entries are judged by an international panel of architects, designers, film experts and journalists. The jury will be composed of the following individuals: Willy Bogner, Walter de Silva (Chief designer of AUDI, Lamborghini), Hadi Teherani (BRT Architects Hamburg), Dr. Freiherr von Stechow (GF Partner for Berlin), Stefan Woelver (GF Kibook, London), Martin Cserba (GF 21TORR), Ralf Daab (Director of TeNeues).

On May 23, 2003 the jury nominated 39 entries and on July 18, 2003 the jury will announce 10 finalists. The award ceremony will take place on August 28, 2003 at Potsdamer Platz followed by the official after show party.

The Design TV Awards are organized by the DESIGNERS FRIDAY foundation whose main sponsors are: DESIGN TV, Film board, Partner for Berlin (Berlin Partners), Kibook, Lindemann Architects, 21TORR. Further Sponsors are Fenomenon, LAB02, createk, airportec, co.de2 and AUDI.

The much sought after DESIGN TV awards are produced in aluminum and acryl, stylishly representing the digital pixel matrix and designed by Michael Schmidt, Partner of code2 Stuttgart.
