By converting its AccessNet Web and desktop frameworks to operate using the .NET platform, GovConnect will streamline its development and provide more robust applications to government customers.

One of the first applications to apply AccessNets .NET capabilities is GovConnects enterprise payment engine. In addition, future Web and desktop applications built on the AccessNet platform will use Microsofts .NET framework.

The increased productivity allowed by the .NET framework is critical to governments that need to provide access to services for citizens and anticipate a high level of transactions. .NET is Microsoft's XML Web services platform. It enables applications, services and devices to work together as connected solutions, allowing users to act on information from a variety of smart devices.
