Know your audience. No matter the situation, a speaker must know the needs of the audience and match content to those needs.

Dress appropriately. How the audience perceives you is important. If your dress is too low-key for the event, your credibility drops.

Appear relaxed and speak with conviction. Even if you are nervous, you must remain calm so your audience feels your confidence in the topic.

Speak slowly and enunciate. If your audience cant understand or keep up with your message, everyones time will have been wasted.

Use appropriate body language and gestures. Do not sit down, stand still or move too much.

Maintain eye contact. Make sure you glance at all portions of your audience.

Handouts and visuals help, so long as they enhance the message without distracting.
