Rules for Writing Better Advertisements.

Every year, awards are given for excellence in advertising. However, creating ads that sell is not about winning awards. Follow these simple rules to increase your response rate and sales.

August, 2003 -- Every year, awards are given for excellence in advertising. However, creating ads that sell is not about winning awards. Follow these simple rules to increase your response rate and sales.

A powerful headline can make your ad 70% more effective

Use a quotation instead of a traditional headline and increase your sales by 28%.

Headlines of 10-15 words sell more than shorter headlines.

Keep it simple. Don't let design overpower the message.

Use photographs, not drawings. Photographs represent reality whereas drawings represent an opinion.

Be direct and to the point - use short words, short sentences and short paragraphs.

Focus on benefits, not features.

Be specific, making your ad more believable.

When possible, use testimonials.
