THE PAMPERED CHEF HELPS FIGHT HUNGER YEAR ROUND

Melbourne, FLn (PRWEB) August, 2003 -— According to the U.S. Census Bureau, an estimated 33 million Americans do not know where their next meal will come from. And, according to America's Second Harvest, the nation's largest hunger relief charity, 70.6 percent of households are reported as food insecure. Because of this need, today The Pampered Chef announces it is expanding its Round-Up from the Heart charitable giving campaign from a six-month program to a year-long campaign.

The fact is, hunger in America is on the rise. This means that more and more families need the important assistance food banks offer and our new extended program can help feed the hungry all year long," said Julie Christopher, manager, Corporate and Consumer Relations. Funds raised through The Pampered Chef's Round-Up from the Heart campaign directly support America's Second Harvest and its network of local food banks, enabling them to help families put a meal on the table."

From Aug. 1, 2003 to July 31, 2004, customers can contribute to the campaign in several ways. They can round up their purchase totals at in-home cooking demonstrations to the nearest dollar or more. All funds then are sent to America's Second Harvest food banks in the region where the donations originate, making this a national campaign with local impact.

Pampered Chef customers also can purchase four limited edition collectible Stoneware cookie molds themed Seasons of the Heart. Every three months, a new Seasons of the Heart cookie mold will be introduced and available all year for $8.50. For each cookie mold purchased, The Pampered Chef will donate $1 to the national office of America's Second Harvest. The third way to support the campaign is through the purchase of a Stoneware Mold Holder costing $20.00, $2 of which will be donated to America's Second Harvest. The Holder can be used as a decorative wall display for the new season's cookie molds or past season's commemorative molds.

We're seeing more and more Americans who are struggling to feed their families," said Robert Forney, president and CEO, America's Second Harvest. We're grateful to our good friends at The Pampered Chef for expanding the Round-Up from the Heart campaign to help in the fight against hunger."

Thanks to the efforts of The Pampered Chef's 70,000 independent Kitchen Consultants and millions of customers, nearly $825,000 was raised through the Round-Up from the Heart program last year. More than $7 million has been donated to America's Second Harvest since the campaign's inception in 1991. In the 2001 and 2002 issues of Forbes magazine, America's Second Harvest was given a charitable commitment rating of 99 percent. This means that 99 percent of all product and monetary donations received go directly toward feeding the hungry.
