Port Jefferson featured Americana Today Series
The artist of the Americana Today Series, William Alan Discount and Ikuo Shinzato, the owner of the Home Art Gallery display a framed print of the Americana Today series featuring Port Jefferson. The technique is a modern version of folk art.
Port Jefferson, New York. The town of Port Jefferson is being featured in a series of Americana Today, modern folk art. The series is on display at the Home Art Gallery, at 213 Main Street. Ikuo Shinzato, the owner of the gallery, has been a supporter of the arts for almost three decades, originally in Bay Shore, and for the last 9 years here in Port Jefferson. The artist: William Alan Discount, born in Greenport, Long Island, New York. A graduate of the School of Visual Arts. Illustrated Children's books until 1950, then entered Advertising as an artist and later an Art Director. The last 25 years he has Free-Lanced from Hauppauge. In 1984 he merged his talent with the computer and started experimenting with digital images. The result was an ongoing series of striking and realistic visuals of landmarks and other subjects. The Series starts with drawings of each individual shop, placing them in the computer, then manipulating them into a specific scene, one image at a time.
