Eat My Funk is a brand new party every Friday night at 3rd Base in Mass [Brixton Hill] starting on the 23rd of January 2004. Admission is free before 10pm and 5 after. 2-4-1 beers / alcopops and mixed drinks til 10pm. Launch party 23rd of January with live acts The Pistachios [big band hiphop + funk], Koldfusion [funk / soul], and August [dancehall / hiphop / funk] plus DJs Superfrog [funk / soul / hiphop] and Andy MAC [nujazz / deep house / funk / hiphop].
Eat My Funk: Bringing a new clubbing concept to South London... Each session will feature funky live acts plus DJs keeping the dancefloor jumping right through the night.
Eat My Funk parties are multi-sensory experiences featuring several bands, DJs, real-time video and visuals mixes, improvisation sessions, short films, dancers, breakdancers, turntablists, MCs and much, much more as part of a constantly changing celebration of underground music and the arts. Thanks to the generosity of the Mass management we can also offer a super-sized happy hour from 8 til 10, with a 2-4-1 drinks promotion on beer and alcopops [Becks or Stella at two for 3] and mixed drinks [vodka, rum or whisky plus a mixer at two for 3]. And there is no charge for admittance during this period! Eat My Funk offers unbeatable value for money.
The musical theme is funkiness in a broad sense: deep funk, rocksteady, dusty soul 45s, breakbeat, blue beat, rare groove, latino and soulful house, dancefloor jazz, boogie and old-skool hiphop for a mixed, openminded, musically aware crowd. Resident bands include Koldfusion [funk / soul / jazz / latin], Elliptica [electro-funk], and August [dancehall / hiphop / funk], with new special guests every week like the Pistachios, Meeting of Minds, Planetman & the Internationals, Blue Monk , The Lobsters, Fuzzface and many more. Resident DJs are Superfrog , Rob Reng, Butterfly and Andy MAC with guest Djs on rotation including Singlefinger, Gilb, Sid Blunt, Steve Adele and current world DMC champ Tigerstyle... Eat My Funk has got real grooves for real party people.

3rd Base is located in St Mathews Church at the bottom of Brixton Hill, where Brixton Hill becomes Brixton Road. It is two minutes walk from Brixton tube [Victoria line]. The entrance is on the Effra Road side of the church and will be clearly indicated on the night.Please note that 3rd Base is not part of Mass proper. Tickets for Eat My Funk at 3rd Base will not gain you entry to Friday Night Mass at Mass.
