Spectrum Research & Development, Inc., a company in Cincinnati, Ohio, has developed a colorful print of black inventors and scientists that is designed to raise the awareness of the technical, engineering, and scientific contributions of African Americans to the development of the U.S. A few outstanding examples are the revolutionary works of Madame C.J. Walker (the hot comb), Frederick McKinley Jones (refrigeration systems), Garrett Morgan (traffic signal and gas mask), Granville T. Woods (numerous electrical devices), Elijah H. McCoy (lubricating systems) and Dr. Daniel Hale Williams (first successful open heart surgery).
The print of African American Inventors is a work in diversity awareness and educational support. While designed primarily for the celebration of Black History Month, it has value throughout the year for virtually any setting, cultural entity, or age group.
(PRWEB) January 24, 2004 --A new and vibrantly colored print that displays African American inventors and scientists and some of their creations is planned for permanent exhibition at the National Inventors Hall of Fame in Akron, Ohio.
