Boston, MA (PRWEB) January 24, 2004 --The Mike Hallal Band has been named Featured Artist by independent artist community Digizaar.com. The Digizaar homepage promotion highlights the bands locally popular song, "Red Sox Blues," and their newly released roots rock album, Chains of Being. "Red Sox Blues" was first released as a single in 2002 and has received good airplay since then over Boston radio and at Fenway Park. The followup full-length, produced by RTZ and Peter Wolf band alum Brian Maes, was released last fall and was a Pick of the Week by HotBands.com in December.

"Were looking to feature independent artists that have something truly original to offer," says Digizaar COO Milana Sobol, "something out of the ordinary. People who are out there doing it, sharing their art, and working hard to catch a break. Thats what we look for. The Mike Hallal Band rocks, and their original music deserves a larger hearing." Digizaar also features artists such as the Dresden Dolls, Bourbon Princess and Virtuoso.

Boston-based Digizaar is a new "digital content bazaar" that gives independent artists the ability to offer their original skins, music, software, digital art and writings, set their own prices and retain all creative control. Digizaar is helping pioneer the new Peppercoin micropayment technology, which doesnt require buyers to prepay or load up their account before making purchases. Peppercoins advanced transaction handling also allows Digizaar to pay their artists much higher-than-average percentages on items sold.

All 11 cuts from the new Hallal Band album are available online at Digizaar in high-quality digital files for 75 cents each. The CDs artwork files -- featuring a drawing by Robert Fludd (c. 1600) -- are also available for just a dime apiece. Visitors can also post comments and ratings on the bands Digizaar page.

At the top of the bands lineup are Jim Antonellis (drums), Dixon Creasey Jr. (bass, vocals), singer-songwriter Mike (guitar, vocals), cousin Mitch Hallal (harmonica, vocals), Kook Lawry (lead guitar) and producer Maes (keys, percussion, backing vocals). Pinch hitting are Silvertone Steve (slide guitar), David Vargas (congas), and Laurie Glasser, Terry OSoro and Gloria Poirier (backing vocals). Both the single and album were mastered by Dan Tarlow at his Zigmo Recording studios in Danvers.

Mikes been active in the Boston music scene for some two decades, with over 15 independent releases of original material. He's was born a Red Sox fan in Pawtucket, RI.

The Chains of Being disc is available at http://www.mikehallal.com/cds.html and at Newbury Comics (Newbury St., Government Ctr., Harvard Sq., Alewife, Saugus, Peabody and Providence, RI), Records Wanted (Lynn) and Ted Coles Music Shop (Salem). For more information visit http://www.mikehallal.com.
