Santa Barbara, CA (PRWEB) January 24, 2004 --Santa Barbara law firm Cappello & McCann LLP has changed names and added a new partner according to managing partner A. Barry Cappello. The new name is Cappello & Noël LLP and reflects the decision to add partner Leila J. Noël to the firm name and the departure of Michael W. McCann who has begun a solo legal practice. In addition, Troy A. Thielemann, an associate with the firm since 1996, has become a partner.
"We wish our friend and colleague Mike McCann all the best and expect to continue to work with him for years to come," says Cappello. "Leila has been with the firm for 18 years and a partner for 10 years. It's a privilege to share the firm name with her." Noël has obtained more than $150 million in verdicts and settlements for clients and supervised many of the firm's major cases throughout the years.
Thielemann joins partners Cappello, Noël and James L. "Troy is in charge of our research and writing department and is a valuable asset to the firm," says Cappello. "His contributions will only grow as a partner."
The firm has obtained close to $1 billion in verdicts and settlements. With more than 35 attorneys, paralegals, legal secretaries and support staff, Cappello & Noël is one of the largest pure litigation firms between Los Angeles and San Jose.
Current cases within the firm include litigation against The Boeing Company over toxic discharge into the surrounding neighborhoods near its Rocketdyne facilities in Ventura and Los Angeles counties; litigation against the County of Santa Barbara on behalf of property owners to prevent land use and environmental abuses; and litigation against the lessee of oceanfront land, Seacliff Land LLC, on behalf of 67 homeowners whose houses sit on the land and who could lose their homes if Seacliff is allowed to impose huge rent increases.
