New Book Released by Police Sketch Artist in Runnion Murder
When Samantha Runnion was kidnapped and murdered in July 2002, authorities turned to Michael Streed, the author of the new true crime book - SketchCops to help solve her case.
(PRWEB) January 26, 2004 --In July of 2002, 5 year-old Samantha Runnion was abducted near her home and was later found sexually assaulted and murdered. At the time, the only evidence sheriffs detectives had was the image of her killer etched in the memory of her 5 year old playmate.
With little else to go on, detectives turned to Michael Streed, a 26 year law enforcement veteran known throughout law enforcement circles for sketching uncanny likenesses of Southern Californias most high-profile criminals.
Based in Orange County, CA; his reach has extended across the United States as hes successfully blended his investigative skills with his artistic abilities to render criminal portraits for countless law enforcement agencies.
Now, this internationally recognized police sketch artist is pleased to announce the release of his new book, SketchCops -- True Stories From Those Who Draw The Line Against Crime. (Publish America - 2003)
In the Runnion case, it was Michaels sketch that led to the identification and capture of her killer, Alejandro Avila, who is currently awaiting trial.
In his book, SketchCops, he takes the reader into his personal case files and allows them to examine case facts as they compare the accuracy of his sketches against the mug shots of the criminals they portray. From murders and serial rapes to child abductions; each story is more harrowing than the one before.
Michael is also pleased to highlight the work of other police sketch artists from around the country who have contributed sketches to some of Americas most shocking cases. Through their own eyewitness accounts, the reader will be treated to a firsthand look at some of the people who are out there 'putting a face on crime.
Ever aware of the stigma placed on crime victims who may be reluctant to come forward, Michael closes the book with valuable crime prevention tips and information on how to become a better witness for the police.
Michael will be glad to share his perspective on SketchCops with you and is available to the media by contacting: him via e-mail at: mstreed@comcast.net or by calling (714)744-7588, Extension 2080
