Chef Daniel Orr Appointed Culinary Consultant Of The Cuisinart Resort And Spa In Anguilla, bwi
Daniel Orr, former Executive Chef of New York's famed Guastavino's Restaurant, has been appointed Executive Chef and Culinary Consultant of The CuisinArt Resort and Spa in Anguilla
New York, NY (PRWEB) January 26, 2004 --Chef Daniel Orr, formerly the executive chef of Guastavinos Restaurant in New York City, has been appointed as culinary consultant of the CuisinArt Resort and Spa (www.cuisinartresort.com), a Leading Hotels of the World member, in Anguilla, British West Indies.
Orr and his Chef de Cuisine, of 8 years, Christopher Heath, will create new concepts and menus for CuisinArt. They have begun work on reformatting the Resorts foodservice operations and are creating concepts for a CuisinArt Restaurant (fine-dining with island flavors, raw foods and other intensely flavored healthy options,) as well as The Spa Grill, Juice Bar 24 (a healthy snack bar,) Domino Rum Bar and a new Beachside Island BBQ Shack. Orr will also be working on the CuisinArt Cookbook.
Orr will be incorporating many of his healthy Regime Cuisine dishes from his first book, Daniel Orr Real Food (Rizzoli, 1997), and creating new ones for the Spa Grill and CuisinArt Restaurant. He will also be assisting the resorts farmers and gardeners with the hydroponic farm, as well as in the fruit, vegetable, and herb gardens. These gardens grow much of the resorts produce and Orr cant wait to enlarge the variety. Orr is well known for using herbs from his rooftop garden in Hells Kitchen.
Orr and Heath will also be developing a new series of cooking classes for the resort that will include: healthy lifestyle cooking, island cooking, Thai, Philippine, vegetarian, Regime Cuisine, raw foods, foraging for Caribbean wild ingredients and shopping for island foods. Orr also plans to start a CuisinArt Food Festival" and invite all his Chef Friends," food writers and Foodies" down to the Caribbeans best food and restaurant island.
I am very excited to start at the CuisinArt Resort," says Orr. I have taken many Scuba diving and dining vacations throughout the islands and love the food and the people. I will miss the energy of the City, but I dont think anything will compare to being able to raise my goats and chickens in my backyard! Orr is famous for a cooking style that combines classical techniques that are lightened with a vibrant, health-minded approach. His use of green market and organic produce, poultry, fish and heritage meats coupled with his unique spice blends will be visible throughout the property.
Before Guastavinos, Orr and Heath brought 3 New York Times Stars to La Grenouille. Orr has worked in France at Auberge des Templiers, Le Prieure, and Restaurant Daguin in Auch; and two Michelin 3-Star restaurants, LEsperance in Saint Pere sous Vezelay and Chez Bruneau in Brussels.
