Songs For DR Congo- CD Launch
A CD of inspirational songs, highlighting the plight of people in Democratic Republic of Congo, is to be launched on 13th March 2004, to raise money for Merlins programme in eastern DR Congo.
(PRWEB) January 27, 2004 --The collection of songs, entitled "Conversations with God," was written and produced by Cedric Kithima, who is originally from DR Congo. They offer a positive message in what is a crucial time for the country, as it emerges from over seven years of brutal civil war.
Cedric Kithima, 21, arrived in the UK in 1994 after being forced to flee DR Congo when the country was plunged into insecurity following the genocide in Rwanda. His unique background and personal experiences have provided the basis for the songs' lyrics, which highlight the renewed hope for the future of his country.
Cedric said, 'working alongside Merlin and helping to raise funds for the charity's DR Congo programme is a way for me to give something back. It's a sad fact that the world's media has largely forgotten about the incredible struggle that the Congolese people have experienced and are still going through. I hope this CD will help highlight the country's plight and that people will find the music both moving and uplifting."
