Gable-Cook-Schmid Public Relations (GCS-PR) Celebrates Second Anniversary - Strong 2003 for San Diego PR Firm

Gable-Cook-Schmid Public Relations (GCS-PR) has marked its second anniversary, validating its virtual model with a client roster of 20 U.S. and Canadian clients and three industry awards earned in 2003.

SAN DIEGO, CA (PRWEB) January 27, 2004 -- Gable-Cook-Schmid Public Relations (GCS-PR) has marked its second anniversary, validating its virtual model with a client roster of 20 U.S. and Canadian clients and three industry awards earned in 2003.

Founded by public relations and communications veterans Tom Gable, Rick Cook and Jon Schmid in November 2001, GCS delivers results through a virtual model where partners manage every account.

The approach contrasts with traditional agency structures where passing programs through multiple layers of junior staff often results in delays in client service and higher costs," says Gable. By leveraging our combined experience on both the corporate and the media side, were able to reduce the learning curve to about zero, provide continuous strategic and creative counsel and deliver unparalleled results aimed at favorably impacting our clients business objectives."

Recent media relations successes for GCS clients have included placements in Forbes, Wall Street Journal, Business Week, The Economist, TIME Magazine, major daily newspapers, broadcast and across major trade publications in the biotechnology, real estate and development, network technology, venture capital and pharmaceutical industries. Media coverage has often been timed to support media and analyst tours, new product introductions, major corporate milestones, community celebrations and sales events.

Clients want cost-effective results, not inflated retainers," said Jon Schmid, partner at GCS. The ability to keep overhead low while offering a better standard of client service has allowed us to enjoy positive growth, even during difficult economic times."

The virtual model, with strategic use of communications specialists throughout the country, allows GCS the flexibility to serve clients outside of Southern California. In 2003, GCS added two Canadian companies to its roster: Methanex, a global producer of methanol and Apparent Networks, a network intelligence software company. The firm also joined the International Public Relations Exchange (IPREX, www.iprex.com), a global network of 50 leading independent agencies with more than 800 PR professionals and 800 international clients.

The agencys commitment to a higher caliber of public relations was recognized in 2003 with four industry awards. The team earned a Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) national Bronze Anvil Award of Commendation for opinion piece writing, a national Bulldog Media Relations award for the San Diego Film Festival, a Bronze Bernays Award for opinion piece writing, and a Silver Bernays Award of Commendation for internal communications.

With their extensive experience in many practice areas, GCS partners are committed to educating public relations and business professionals on the value of strategic marketing and public relations. In 2003, Tom Gable spoke about the successes of the virtual agency model at the PRSA International Conference in New Orleans and at the PRSA Counselors Academy in Vancouver. Gable also spoke at the High Tech Marketing Association (HTMA) in San Diego on working with external PR agencies. Additionally, partners Jon Schmid and Rick Cook teamed up Forward Venture Partner Maria Walker to present a seminar on enhancing corporate valuations.
