After years of performing poetry live, with jazz accompaniment, When Poems Take Wings...Life Poems" represents Ms. Catheys first published collection of poetry. The volume includes a number of her performed pieces; selections from her one woman show, A Woman of Her Words"; as well as many new poems. Within this collection one experiences love with its highest peaks of joy, as well as its lowest depths of melancholy, delivering melodic rhyme that will make you both smile and weep. Patrice Cathey is a resident of Amherst, New York, where she is the director of the Liberty Partnerships Program at Buffalo State College. She has a BA in English, a Master of Science degree in education and is a Ph.D. candidate. Ms. Cathey is the founder of Poetically Speaking Poetry Workshops for Children and has been recognized in the 2004 volume of Whos Who in America and Whos Who of American Women.
