Computer Repair Company Microjoe to Help In the Battle Against Wide Spread Computer Viruses

In hopes of lessening the effect of wide-spread computer viruses, Microjoe has set up a mailing list that will equip computer users with the necessary information to properly defend against them.

(PRWEB) January 28, 2004 --How much time and money have computer viruses cost you? Microjoe, a Minneapolis based computer and network support company, has taken a step at assisting the public in reducing the effects of computer viruses by providing a mailing list that will notify users of critical computer security information. This information will include critical security alerts provided by Microsoft and information on the latest virus alerts.

The estimated cost of the Blaster Worm in 2003 was $525 million, and it infected over 336,000 computers during the first 24 hours of its existence. What causes viruses to wreak havoc the way they do? The biggest reason is that they infect computers running vulnerable versions of Microsoft’s Windows operating system. Even though Microsoft releases fixes for there vulnerabilities well before the viruses are released, these fixes are rarely applied until it is too late. To help raise problem awareness and to provide a better understanding of these issues, Microjoe has set up a security mailing list that is free of charge. You can sign up for this mailing list at www.microjoe.com. The sign-up process is easy: after you have reached the website, click on the link that says mailing list, then follow the detailed instructions on the website. Whenever Microsoft releases a security alert, you can expect to receive an email with easy to follow instructions on how to download and install a necessary patch. Similarly, in cases when there is a fast-spreading and dangerous virus, you will receive an email describing things to look out for to avoid the virus.
