Oxford Universitys Pembroke College Womens Rugby Team Kick Their Kit Into Touch
Oxford Universitys Pembroke College womens rugby team will play their first game of the season with pride, kitted head to toe in brand new kit and pads as part of a new sponsorship deal with international womens organisation, Aurora.
(PRWEB) January 29, 2004 --This is a very important sponsorship deal for the women of Pembroke College because it marks a milestone in the Colleges history and a major breakthrough for female students.
For Pembroke Colleges female students, the support of an international organisation means financial independence and a womens rugby team to be proud of. Until now the womens rugby team has had to borrow kit from the mens team, so that on the pitch, they were never considered as professional or as talented as their male counterparts.
Phillipa Jose, member of Pembroke Colleges rugby team believes that rugby is just the tip of the iceberg. Its not about competing with the guys, its about tackling the low self esteem amongst female students. The team's success is sending a message to our female contemporaries to be confident, try new things, break new barriers and put yourself forward"
