Horizon Holidays Announces New Look and New Trips For 2004

Horizon Holidays, one of Canadas most established and respected travel companies, has used its new Canadian brochure to launch a wide-ranging refreshment of its brand image. Springtime always feels like a time of rejuvenation" says Markus Schale, Horizons president, and in celebration of this spirit we have decided to change the look and feel of our materials."

(PRWEB) January 30, 2004 --Horizon was founded in 1963 by Gordon Fairbanks, an adventurous spirit in search of a career that would allow him to indulge his sense of wanderlust. Under his leadership, the company quickly became one of the dominant providers of high-end travel experiences both in Canada and abroad. Horizon pioneered trips from the high Artic to the furthest reaches of the Yangtze River, and in most cases it was Gordon himself out in the field researching and leading trips.

Reinvigorating the Brand

"Since Gordon decided to pass the baton to a younger generation last year, we felt that it was a good time to start evolving the brand" says Schale. The most obvious change is the move to the name Horizon & Co. from the former name Horizon Holidays.

Our loyal travellers and our partners in the travel industry have referred to us simply as Horizon for years, and thus it felt like a natural evolution to drop the reference to Holidays and replaced it with & Co." says Schale. Furthermore, the change reflects the fact that the term holiday" has become somewhat debased in the last few years through overuse, and it no longer reflects the sophistication of our trips or the quality of our service. Finally, the change signals that a new management group is running the business, including myself, our general manager Dino Zuppa, and our newest member, Norman Howe, a former senior executive at Butterfield & Robinson, one of the worlds best travel companies."

In addition to changing the name of the company, Horizon has also introduced a more sophistcaed design sensibility into its materials. We are a boutique travel company offering specialised trips for a discerning public, not a mass market tour company," says Schale, and thus we have made a conscious decision to upgrade the quality of all of our materials to reflect the reality of our business. The next major challenge will be to re-engineer and re-design our website, which we hope to have launched by May of this year."

Exploring Canada

The new Canadian Journeys brochure includes the most comprehensive selection of unique departures ever offered by Horizon. The journeys cover almost the entire breadth of Canada, from the romance of old world Québec to the drama of the high Arctic, from the wildness of the Pacific Ocean to the sheltered fiords of Newfoundland. The world is waking up to Canada" says Schale" and who better to illuminate it than the Canadian company who pioneered the exploration of the countrys travel frontiers. Our travellers have an ever increasingly appetite for exploring the cultural and geographic diversity of Canada, and these new journeys provide a smorgasbord of choice."
