Postfuture® Announces Patent Application for Transactional Messaging System

XML Remote Control toolkit enables IT departments to keep sensitive customer databases in-house while securely outsourcing delivery of online confirmations.

DALLAS, (PRWEB) January 30, 2004 -- Postfuture®, a leading Email Service Provider (ESP), today announced it has filed an application with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office related to remote management and secure outsourced delivery of transactional email messages. The patent application covers a set of extensions to Postfutures web-based Postpublisher Enterprise Edition messaging platform, called XML Remote Control, that includes an XML-based toolkit, a secure XML event processing engine, template-driven message personalization, automated reply routing and dynamic link tracking.

Transactional messages, such as order receipts, account status messages, registration confirmations, conference reminders and product updates, have traditionally been handled by corporate IT departments as a function of website management," said Richard Merrick, Postfuture president and CEO. However, with the emergence of the CAN-SPAM law and increasing challenges from ISP spam filters, many organizations are now seeking to ensure delivery of these critical customer communications by outsourcing this function to a service provider. This latest patent application protects the uniqueness of our XML Remote Control toolkit and related extensions to Postpublisher while protecting our clients investment in this service." said Merrick.

The XML Remote Control system is fully automated for use directly by clients or as part of a full-service solution provided by Postfuture. To prepare an ongoing transactional messaging system, such as an order receipt, a special transactional campaign is created inside the secure Postpublisher portal. The email templates created contain replacement tags for any individualized information, such as product description, unit-of-measure, quantity and price. The campaign is then scheduled and XML events posted in real-time or in batch through an automatically assigned location within a Virtual Private Network (VPN). Any website or online store can be easily modified to submit events remotely in this fashion in place of in-house email distribution.

XML Remote Control benefits include:
- delivery assurance based on Postfutures ISP relationship program and optional bonded sender program,
- authentication of messages sent by distributing through your organizations Internet domain via an MX record and dedicated IP address,
- secure delivery of data to Postfuture via dedicated VPN tunnel,
- automated bounce handling and reply routing for customer care applications,
- dynamic tracking of embedded links and comprehensive tracking reports showing sent, delivered, viewed and detailed clicks over time and by audience segment, and
- a proven off-the-shelf suite of tools makes it fast and easy to implement.

In addition, XML Remote Control can be used in conjunction with other exclusive Postpublisher features, including automated follow-up sequencing, built-in survey templates and the companys patent-pending Print@Home incentives and Multi-Content Zone personalization tools for delivery of preference-driven cross-sell/up-sell offers. Targeted and personalized broadcast email campaigns can also be managed similarly within the same Postpublisher platform to provide an enterprise-wide, fully integrated messaging platform. Using these revolutionary tools, advanced customer relationship marketing solutions are now possible at a very affordable price.

XML Remote Control is already in use with over two dozen leading agencies and several category leading retail and technology clients to trigger delivery of time-sensitive, highly personalized messages," continued Mr. Merrick. Since transactional messages are now defined as a special class of messages by the CAN-SPAM Act of 2003, we are seeing a significant increase in inquiries about our transactional capabilities and how they can augment traditional broadcast email marketing strategies," concluded Merrick.
