Dr. James Hall demanded to live, with five words that no one should ever have to say.

Dr. James Hall, a Jungian analyst and founder of the Jungian Society in the United States, is felled by a pontine stroke. Once upon a time he thought he would want to die, now he fought to live, his only weapon his eyes.

(PRWEB) January 30, 2004 --Dr. James Hall is the true story of James A. Hall. Born in the small town of Gladewater, Texas, part of the easy Texas oil fields on February 13, 1934. he grew to become the valedictorian of his high school class, second chair violinist in the orchestra, and class president twice. James met his wife Suzy when he was twelve and she was thirteen. Suzy never felt that she was good enough for James.

IN 1991 James was at the pinnacle of his career. He branded cattle on a small family ranch and drove a Jaguar and was an eminent Jungian whose psychiatric practice was one of the largest in Dallas. A man with a dangerously large ego whom his wife has called a "roaring extrovert." A man who was rampantly and admittedly unfaithful to his wife even to the point of bumping her from a trip to Europe while fully acknowledging he was taking another woman with him, and who had two daughters and a string of girlfriends. A man whose talents as a magician garnered Mr. Hall the attention he desired. The world of James is changed forever by being "locked in" when the "bridge" between the brain and the spinal column, the pons is damaged by a stroke. The resulting damage, carnage really results in physical disablities which are beyond even those of a quadrapalegic. The chan ges to James' life since the stroke are immeasurable and include the fact that he now hates the dark and prefers a light on at all times and without a body to tire, he no longer needs sleep.

Felled by the "locked in" syndrome, he continues to find ways to connect with the world via his writing with Patton Howell. The "locked in" syndrome, as noted in his book Locked In To Life, from Tea Road Press, has only been established in fifty-five cases since 1987. And generally the patient dies. This is a story about the soul, where it resides and who each of us is. About a man who when asked if he wanted to live replied with five words: I demand to live asshole!
