Manhattan Book Festival Hosted by Mobile Media Access, Inc. at New Yorks Marriott Financial Center

Manhattan Book Festival in New York at the Marriott Financial Center, 85 West Street, New York City, NY on Saturday February 21, 2004 from 11:00am until 7:00pm.

New York, NY (PRWEB) January 31, 2004 --Mobile Media Access, Inc. (www.mobilemediaaccess.com) a seminar and event planning company announces the inaugural Manhattan Book Festival in New York at the Marriott Financial Center, 85 West Street, New York City, NY on Saturday February 21, 2004 from 11:00am until 7:00pm. On Friday February 20, 2004 from 6:00pm -- 8:30pm there will be an authors reception of which admission will be $20.

The Festival, which is free and open to the public, brings together popular African American authors from across the country, as well as poets, performers, book sellers, publishers, panel discussions and vendors. Mobile Media Access will also host an after-party starting at 8:00pm at the New York Marriott Financial Center VIP Host Room.

Natalie Connor, co-founder of Mobile Media Access, is proud to present this event which is in line with their mission to provide high quality and innovative New York based literary events. This is a great opportunity to provide positive visibility and appreciation for a broad and diverse community of authors and books," commented Ms. Connor. Through their department, Its All About the Authors, Mobile Media Access arranges speaking engagements, book signings, lectures, readings, private parties and various networking events for authors and publishing houses.

The Manhattan Book Festivals keynote speaker will be by Ms. C. Virginia Fields, Manhattan Borough President, accompanied by other New York Community Leaders. Event participants include: author and National Book Awards Honoree, Edward P. Jones The Known World" (HarperCollins), Thomas Glave, Author of Whose Song? : And Other Stories (City Lights Books), G. Winston James, Poet and Co-Editor of Spirited: Affirming the Soul and Black Gay and Lesbian Identity" (RedBone Press), Stacy Ann Chin, Poet from Def Jam Poets, Lisa Moore, author and founder of Fire & Ink" (RedBone Press), Lorna Owens Daily Sustenance" (Aglob Publishing), Danyel Smith, More Like Wrestling" (Crown/Random House), Elizabeth Alexander, The Black Interior" (Greywolf), Shawne Johnson, Eden, Ohio" (Dutton Books) and Gloria Mallette, The Honey Well" (Dafina/Kensington), to name a few of those confirmed.

Panel topics will include: Haitian Writers: A Celebration, in honor of the Haitian Bicentennial; Transcending Silence: Black Gay and Lesbian Writers, Black Lesbian and Gay authors speak openly about the realities of their literature and life today-moderator: Clarence A. Haynes, Associate Editor Doubleday/Harlem Moon; Words and Music: Making It In the Music Business; Black on Black: The State of Black Literature - Moderator: Manie Barron, WMA; Gettin and Givin Good Luvin: Black Male/Female Relationships, Moderated by Toby Tompkins, this particular panel promises to be a lively and insightful exploration in the wants and needs of Black men and women, who are actively looking to find love and keep the fires going in their love lives.
