Most Job Seekers Need a Makeover
Local job site owner says most people don't know how to job hunt properly. Offers advice in new eBook.
(PRWEB) January 31, 2004 --Chris Russell, owner of the local job site network AllCountyJobs.com, has a theory about today's jobseekers. He believes most of them are conducting their search in all the wrong ways.
To help them he has created a new eBook entitled "Secrets of the Job Hunt" ...it is available for download at www.secretsofthejobhunt.com.($14.95)
The eBook lists over 50 job hunting secrets that he has uncovered over the past few years running a job board.
Here are some things jobseekers are doing wrong;
- They are not customizing their resume
- They are not maximizing their job search
- They have not caught up with technological advancements in the world of recruiting (i.e. How to use the internet)
"My secrets will help jobseekers break through their job search malaise and show them practical tips and tricks to help them stand out in an overcrowded job market", says Russell.
Here are a few sample secrets:
Secret # 51 - The Best Time to Email
------------------------------------
The best time to email your resume to a recruiter is between 10am and 3pm. Doing so will give you the best chance of it being read since you are most likely to catch the recruiter at his or her desk.
Secret #3 - Tailor Your Resume
------------------------------
When you see a job you want to apply for you MUST tailor your resume to that job description. Use the same KEYWORDS and PHRASES they use to describe the job. Doing so will allow you to be filtered out by human resources as a candidate that closely matches the job requirements.
Secret #9 - Show Me the Money
-----------------------------
Companies getting VC funding (venture capital) are usually hiring. Seek out and find the companies in your area that are getting funded. Your local library can help you find local sources for locating these companies. Once you find them visit their website to see what opportunities are available.
