Low Cost Frasca Full Flight Simulator Gets FAA Level B Approval

Frasca's low cost Cessna Caravan Full Flight Simulator in use at the University of Alaska, Anchorage, has received FAA Level B approval.

(PRWEB) January 1, 2004 --The University of Alaska, Anchorage has received FAA Level B approval of their Frasca Caravan Full Flight Simulator (FFS). The FAA approved the device as a Level B Full Flight Simulator with no restrictions. The FAA also gave the Caravan FFS additional approvals beyond normal Level B; these allow the University to perform circle to landing maneuvers. The device includes an electric six-axis motion base and a three channel Frasca FVS200TX visual system.

According to Ron Haney, Director, UAA Aviation Technology Division, " The Caravan Level B FFS has exceeded our expectations. Professional pilots with many hours of actual Caravan experience have stated that the Frasca simulator is superior to other Caravan simulators theyve trained in, and it more accurately exhibits flight and handling characteristics associated with the actual airplane". The University of Alaska has utilized Frasca Flight Training Devices for over fifteen years and found them to be well built and extremely dependable. Technical support and parts, for those rare times when they are needed, have always been readily available. This is why we selected Frasca to build the Aviation Technology Divisions Cessna Caravan Level B simulator. In addition, having worked with the company over the years we were confident that they could produce a quality product.

Frasca is also currently manufacturing a Level C KingAir FFS for the Japan Civil Aviation Promotion Foundation (JCAPF). The simulator will include six-axis motion and four window collimated visual system. Frasca has also delivered Full Flight Simulators for the BO-105 and Bell 412 Helicopters and has installed several FAA Level 6 Flight Training Devices for a variety of aircraft including the CRJ. The Caravan device is Frasca's first FAA Level B approved Full Flight Simulator and marks a significant development for the company. The device is also significant as it is priced considerably lower than industry standards and is possibly the first low cost Full Flight Simulator to be delivered, installed and FAA approved.
