The Ghost of Christmas Past: case solved of ghostly video at Hampton Court Palace.
An independent study is able to show how a ghostly figured appeared in the security video at Hampton Court Palace. It also explains how the fire doors were opened.
(PRWEB) January 2, 2004 --The mystery of how a ghostly figure nicknamed Skeletor appeared in a security video on 07 October 2003 at Hampton Court Palace is now explained. The mystery was heightened by the fact that a set of fire doors -- which the ghostly figure was seen closing -- appeared to open by themselves: an event recorded on video on three consecutive days.
Expert opinion concentrated on the mystery figure. Could this be a ghost, a prank, or a PR stunt? No explanation was offered as to how a set of secured fire doors could open without anyone being seen.
An independent study was undertaken and work in progress was recorded in a weblog for the general public to read and comment on.
Expert opinion was sought and published. On Tuesday 30 December, an examination was made of the Hampton Court Palace apartment where the event had occurred.
The weblog now claims to have evidence to explain exactly how the doors opened and how the figure appeared in the video.
The media is invited to discuss publication of a report that details this evidence.
John Bartram is an experienced media professional with some 25 years experience across the globe. He has worked in television and as an investigative journalist. Whilst a student boarder he lived in Kimbolton Castle where Henry VIII exiled Katherine of Aragon and was quite at home sharing rooms, corridors and secret passages with the castle's many reputed ghosts.
"If you've clearly seen a ghost, you need no convincing," he says. "But if you have never seen a ghost, you may never be convinced."
His study of the Hampton Court Palace events included an examination of the location where the figure appeared; questioning Professor Richard Wiseman, who had earlier conducted a large-scale experiment - 'Ghosts and Haunting' - in the Haunted Gallery at the Palace; a close examination of the photographic evidence; and gaining expert opinion on the clothing worn by 'Skeletor'.
