Celtic Rock Band FATHOM ANNOUNCES NEW ALBUM; Pollution Blues" available February 2004.
(PRWEB) January 3, 2004 --FATHOM ANNOUNCES NEW ALBUM; Pollution Blues" available February 2004
The endless sea of time that has separated fans from a new CD from Celtic-Rockers Fathom has now been crossed. Pollution Blues", the bands second independent release, is a full sixteen tracks of mythic proportion. The 58-minute CD was self-produced and recorded by the band.
Maybe thats why it took so long," says Vocalist/Songwriter John DiBartolo. We had never done a full length album before, not to mention the fact that we did it ourselves. I think it took us about nine months total from conception to mastering. Nine months! Now its ready to be born," laughs DiBartolo.
Drummer Gary Tourigny admits the hardest part was actually naming their new baby. I guess its hard to put a name on your work until you actually hear and see the finished product." The product contains 14 original songs and two covers.
Mandolin player John Farrell comments on the covers, The two covers we chose fit right in with our Celtic weavings and injection, and we have been playing them live for quite a while. We are the only band in the world that can cover Iron Maiden in an Irish Pub and have people dance to it."
There is a divergent branching of influence on the album, but Fathoms Celtic sap runs through all sixteen tracks. Here is the track listing:
1. Old Spring
2. Fisher King
3. Empty Nets
4. The Great Whale Road
5. Fisherman's Blues
6. My Hearts in the Highlands
7. Hero's Song
8. Pollution Blues
9. Sing For Me
10. Lonely Road
11. Tir Na Nóg
12. I am the One
13. Return to You
14. Itchy Fingers
15. The Trooper
16. The Band Drinks Free
Bassist Erich Roelefson is eager to return from Fathoms winter break, I just wanna play, and the CD sounds great!" The bright sound on Pollution Blues" can be attributed to an expert mastering by Tom Coyne of the world famous Sterling Sound in New York City. The album was recorded in the bands private studio somewhere on the southern shores of Long Island, NY. The tracks mix rock guitar with the Celtic voices of mandolin, acoustic guitar, bagpipes and mythical storytelling. All told, the band is eager to perform for old friends and new audiences all over the country and hopefully overseas soon.
Lead guitarist, Mike 'The Godfather Clemente, concludes like a rock-n-roll philosopher, There's no telling what will be the result of this recording. Some people may love it; some people may use it as a coaster for their favorite soft drink. Regardless of it's purpose, I hope it serves society well!"
