Prevention Conference to Address Healthy Lifestyle Choices for Girls Through Interactive Forum
A fun, interactive conference promoting healthy choices for youth.
(PRWEB) January 4, 2004 --AIM FOR SUCCESS proudly presents the 1st Annual Young Sista Summit Prevention Conference on Saturday, February 21, 2004. The theme for the event is Growing Up Into The New You" and is open to girls ages 12-16.
The conference will address healthy lifestyle choices for girls such as abstaining from the use of drugs, alcohol and tobacco. There will also be a focus on the prevention of teen obesity which is rampant in the U.S. today. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the problem of teenage obesity is now at its highest level in U.S. history. About 15% of teens are obese today, compared to just 5% in the 1960s.
Speakers will include Billy Roberts, the owner of Physical Training Academy, an interactive presentation by A Chance to Change Foundation, as well as a motivational speech from Miss Oklahoma USA 2003, Star Williams. The conference will conclude with a fashion show by J. Ballard Modeling & Talent Agency, a mini-makeover session for 3 lucky winners and several prize drawings.
The summit will take place from 10am to 2pm with a buffet luncheon at noon, at the Bricktown Central Plaza Hotel, 2001 E. Reno.
