Paul McCartney and The Streamers (local NYC Band) in same Project

The Streamers help Clear a Path for a Safer World"

NEW YORK, NY (PRWEB) January 4, 2004 --The New York City based band The Streamers have recently been chosen by Adopt-A- Minefield® to help bring their Clear a Path for a Safer World" campaign to a grassroots level. The band, whose songs offer similar messages as other socially and politically conscious musicians as U2 and John Lennon, will perform several dates throughout New York and the Northeastern states as part of the organizations fundraising campaign.

Sean Yoxovic, The Streamers frontman, grew up in Serbias war torn environment and is proud to be part of this worldwide project. I really believe in the efforts of this organization," he says. This is an extremely personal issue for me. I feel that this action can really make the area safer for the people who still live there -- people who I know and love."

The founding concept for Adopt-A-Minefield® (http://www.landmines.org/), established by United Nations Association of the USA,Better World Fund and helped by Heather Mills and Paul McCartney, is powerfully simple. Rather than wait for inadequately supported policy debates associated with the issues to crawl their way through international political systems, the campaign reaches out now to eliminate tens of millions of mines and give new hope to countless survivors of landmine accidents through practical, more immediate solutions.

Plans for expanding the project are in progress. Several record labels, including Lizard King Records, Megaforce Records, and TISWAS Records, are lending their help. Reputable booking agecy Little Big Man is also helping to bring the project to an even higher profile in New York. In addition, an Adopt-A-Minefield tour is currently in the works.

Yoxovic, who relocated to New York City from Belgrade in 2000, possesses unique songwriting and musical talents as a rocker with heart. His tastefully edgy style is rare among todays guitar-oriented bands, and is fostered by a sense of the true value of self-expression. Rock and roll music is what kept Yoxovic going through the bleakness of war and what eventually inspired him to come to America. Its also what makes events like this so special.

Many of Yoxovics influences can be heard throughout his music, and not merely in a thin derivative way. His songwriting reaches back to revolutionary artists like Ray Davies of the Kinks and captures the pulsating rawness of the Velvet Underground, with a little Mark Knopfler thrown in for good measure. These elements, combined with Seans socio-political sensibilities, reflect the inspiration he draws from a homeland historically burdened by war and ethnic conflict.

Yoxovics band, The Streamers, is rounded out by experienced New York musicians Yuval L. on guitar, Jezabel Kipp on bass, and Kent Carter on drums.
