(PRWEB) January 4, 2004 --John Kerry's presidential campaign in Wisconsin today announced the formation of a Virtual Steering Committee". The group will be responsible for coordinating Internet, blogosphere, message board and email activity for Wisconsin Kerry supporters.
"The Internet is an important organizing tool for the Kerry campaign," said Wisconsin State Director George Twigg. "Creating a 'Virtual Steering Committee' will enable us to use it to its fullest potential."
The Virtual Steering Committee will be led by two Kerry volunteers with extensive Internet experience: Jim Witkins and Joe Melloy. Witkins is the award-winning Creative and Marketing Director at a Madison-based website development firm. Melloy owns a media production company that provides multimedia, audio, video and web services to an international client base.
In the non-virtual world, Witkins and Melloy frequently staffed the Madison Farmer's Market table for the Kerry campaign this past summer and fall.
As a sign of the truly grassroots nature of the Kerry campaign's online efforts, Witkins and Melloy already both work as volunteers to update and maintain the official Wisconsin for Kerry web page: http://www.johnkerry.com/states/wi/.
"John Kerry's campaign is committed to using the Internet hand-in-hand with traditional campaign strategies to win this election," said Witkins. "The Virtual Steering Committee will help us to coordinate our efforts and share important information quickly."
"It's more important to be best than to be first," added Melloy. "We are building a strong, statewide virtual community of Kerry supporters in Wisconsin that is second to none."
