In addition to The Last Fox, A Novel of the 100th/442nd RCT, by Robert H. Kono, Abe Publishing has published The River of Time, A Collection of Short Stories, by the same author whose main interest is in exploring the Japanese American experience and the rich treasure-trove it represents.

The River of Time is made up of 17 short stories. They are mainly about Japanese Americans, but a host of other characters inhabit the pages and lend a fresh and unique reading experience for both knowledgeable readers and those who are new to the subject. The stories cover the concentration camp experience, the volunteer soldiers from the camps, the aftermath of WWII and the possibilities of life beyond the camps as well as their significance in the human drama. Ex-internees, war veterans, a bicycle cop, fathers and sons, professors, students, expats, old friends on a last fishing trip, a widower who finds new life-they are all depicted as ordinary people caught in both usual and unusual circumstances. But it is their response to the discoveries they make that makes for a fresh kind of reading.
