Three New Pink Pistols Chapters in 2004 Breaks the Forty Chapter Mark

The Pink Pistols announces the formation of three new chapters in the largest national organization for the self-defense of gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgendered persons with legally-owned firearms

Philadelphia, PA (PRWEB) January 6, 2004 --The Pink Pistols announces the formation of three new chapters in the largest national organization for the self-defense of gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgendered persons with legally-owned firearms.

The three new chapters are the Cleveland Area Pink Pistols (CAPP) in Cleveland, Ohio, Dayton Area Pink Pistols (DAPP) in Dayton, Ohio, and Western Montana Pink Pistols in Missoula, Montana. Two new chapters in Ohio brings the state total to three, along with the Central Ohio chapter. There has been a surge of grass-roots firearms activism in Ohio in the last year, with the hope that a law allowing concealed carry of firearms will soon be passed.

The addition of the three new chapters increases the nationwide total to 41 in 29 states. There are thousands of Pink Pistols nationwide who do not believe GLBT persons are legitimate targets for hatred and rage. Out of those thousands, hundreds gather across the country regularly to socialize and to practice self-defense techniques at local shooting ranges.

"The Pink Pistols believe that effective self-defense is not only a right, it is a necessity," says Gwendolyn Patton, National Media Spokesperson, "and that a legally-owned firearm is the best and most effective tool for providing that defense."

The Pink Pistols get together at least once a month at local firing ranges to practice shooting, and to acquaint people new to firearms with them. They will help you select a firearm, acquire a permit, and receive proper training in its safe and legal use for self-defense. There are no dues required for membership in the Pink Pistols, nor does the organization require a member to fill out any forms. Membership in the Pink Pistols is accomplished simply by deciding that one is a member. Local chapters may be located via the national website, and national email discussion lists are available.

The national Pink Pistols are proud to welcome Cleveland, Ohio, Dayton, Ohio, and Western Montana to the roster, bringing the list of chapters to 41 in just under 4 years.

"We have gone from four people to forty-one chapters in four years," says Patton. "I am proud of what we have accomplished together."
