The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA's) lawsuits against individual file sharers in the US are the latest skirmishes in a war of attrition between the music industry and the file sharing community. According to a recent Research Consumer Survey of US online adults ages 18 and up, approximately 18 percent of respondents who shared music files stated they had curtailed these activities due to legal threats.
