"Ryze-ing" to the Occasion

Cancer Comfort and Ryze Business Network members join together to provide comfort to children with cancer.

Indianapolis, Indiana (PRWEB) January 7, 2004 --Cancer Comfort, an online cancer resource center, continues their fundraising efforts to provide gifts of comfort to Seattle Children's Hospital. "Sarah's Gift" was created with the help of 12-year old cancer patient, Sarah, who underwent a bone marrow transplant in August 2003 at Seattle Children's Hospital.

"I met Sarah through Chemo Angels in May 2003" states Kathy Browning, founder of Cancer Comfort. "Cancer Comfort offers an exclusive line of Daily Comfort Kits, specifically designed for individuals undergoing chemotherapy and/or radiation treatments, however, they are more suited for adults."

"The idea of creating a kit for children came about during a conversation with Sarah's mother and it has taken on a life of its own" states Browning. "Sarah's Gift" is filled with fun and functional products including squirt guns, slime walkers and sticky darts, as well as all-natural personal care items and gifts of comfort."

"We felt it was important to include items for the caregiver as well" states Browning. "The caregiver has a huge responsibility and we wanted to provide items that would reduce their stress - simple things like a notebook and mechanical pencil, snacks and a Starbucks coffee card."

Cancer Comfort launched their fundraising event on October 25, 2003 and has been using a variety of traditional and non-traditional means to raise the funds necessary to provide kits to all the children on the oncology unit at Seattle Children's Hospital.

"Fundraising has been a challenge because of the sluggish economy and partially because Cancer Comfort is not a non-profit organization" states Browning. "My business mentor provided me with a challenge, which I took to the members of the Ryze community - an online business network. The community has provided tremendous support through monetary and product donations".

Browning states: "The Ryze community has definitely risen to the occasion in helping spread the word about "Sarah's Gift" and together we are providing comfort to the children."
