(PRWEB) January 7, 2004 --The North Park Middle School Band will be returning to New York City in April 2004. Based on the emotional standing ovation the North Park Band received in Carnegie Hall four years ago, concert organizers are excited and looking forward to their return to the worlds most famous concert hall.
On April 9, 2004, a group of approximately 60 middle school students (ages 12-14) will be representing the Pico Rivera and greater Los Angeles community as they perform a concert in Carnegie Hall. The concert will consist of original music composed specifically for the North Park Band. Included will be the World Premiere of Marsche Minor" by Dr. Collette Hasusey, a composer who resides in Anaheim, California and, the World Premiere of a new clarinet concerto composed by New York-based composer Joseph Lawson. Joining the North Park Band will be Miss Jannette Aldana, as the clarinet soloist. Ms. Aldana is a 15-year-old El Rancho High School student who performed with the North Park Band in Carnegie Hall four years ago.
Performing in Carnegie Hall has been every musicians dream ever since 1891 when the Russian composer, Tchaikovsky conducted his own work on opening night. The hall has attracted the worlds leading orchestras and solo and group performers, from Arturo Toscanini and Leonard Bernstein to Duke Ellington, Ella Fitzgerald, Judy Garland, Frank Sinatra, Bob Dylan, the Beatles, and thousands of others. At their young age, the North Park Middle School Band will soon join the ranks of the worlds most famous performers. Their dream of performing at Carnegie Hall will soon become a reality, which they will cherish for the rest of their lives.
While in New York, the students will pay their respects at Ground Zero, where the World Trade Center once stood and where the North Park Band stayed (Marriott World Trade Center) during their first visit to New York. The students will also have the opportunity to attend a Broadway Show, an opera, climb the Statue of Liberty, and visit the top of the Empire State Building.
