(PRWEB) January 7, 2004 --Every year thousands of people are diagnosed with catastrophic diseases and more and more of these are children, and every year less and less of these people are receiving the medical attention they need. This is caused in part by rising medical cost and/or lack of insurance, but one of the biggest reasons people are not receiving the medical care is the in ability to get to it. There are very few facilities that specialize in the treatment of catastrophic diseases and even fewer that specialize in these diseases when contracted by a child. So when a person especially a child is diagnosed with on of these diseases getting to a treatment facility is difficult if not impossible for most due to the high cost of travel and the inability of commercial airlines to cope with the special needs of these people, not to mention that while undergoing some of the treatments related to these diseases the immune system become weak and unable to fight off common infections thus making commercial travel at best risky. In turn most of these people will not receive the proper care and will suffer and even die because of this.
The Gift of Life Air Transportation Organization was formed a year ago to aide in helping these and others when a catastrophic diseases strikes or other crisis arises. The Gift of Life Air Transportation Organization is the only professional full service air ambulance organization in existence in the United States and is one of only two in the world. The Gift of Life Air Transportation Organization is a registered 501(c) 3 non profit and provides service at no cost. Because our pilots are professional and the aircraft we use are leased or owned by the organization our service is not limited by distance or patient condition, and can be available on short notice. As you can imagine this service costs quite a bit but we feel it is well worth it when weighted against pain, suffering and death. Which is why I am writing this letter it is my hope that after reading this letter you will help us We are funded entirely by donations but over the last year since we are a new organization we have received very little public funding. Currently I have personally funded 98% of all flights and am unable to do so any longer. I believe this organization provides a service that is desperately needed and so valuable that a price tag cannot be put on it.
