Janus 21 Winter-Spring 2004 Concert Series Begins With "Singing Strings"

JANUS 21 - the living voice of chamber music" - launches its Winter-Spring concert series with a program of music for voices and strings.

Cambridge, MA (PRWEB) January 8, 2004 --Janus 21s Winter-Spring chamber music concert series begins on January 30 with Singing Strings" featuring mezzo-soprano Jane Struss, tenor Michael Calmès, and string quartet. The program features works by Ralph Vaughan Williams, Arvo Pärt, Ottorino Respighi, and the premiere of Eros Dialogues," composed for Janus 21 by Andrew List with texts by Walt Whitman and Amy Lowell.

Janus 21 has been hailed as one of New Englands most imaginative and dynamic professional chamber music companies. Players and singers of national and international renown, complemented by special guest artists and ensembles, present a refreshing mix of chamber music classics, rarities, and works by contemporary masters. Janus 21 artists have performed as soloists with orchestras including the New York Philharmonic, Chicago Symphony, Cleveland Orchestra, Los Angeles Philharmonic, St. Louis Symphony, St. Paul Chamber Orchestra, and locally with a host of musical organizations -- the Boston Pops, Boston Philharmonic, Pro Arte Chamber Orchestra, and FleetBoston Celebrity Series to name only a few. As chamber musicians, they have been featured at the Santa Fe, Marlboro, La Jolla, Ravinia, and Mostly Mozart, festivals; have performed in recital at Avery Fisher Hall, the 92nd St Y, and Alice Tully Hall in New York; at Wigmore Hall (London); Casals Hall and Suntory Hall (Tokyo); the Tonhalle (Zurich); the Concertgebouw (Amsterdam); the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion and Royce Hall (Los Angeles); the Kennedy Center (Washington, DC); and in concert in South America, Europe, and Asia.
