Terminate Government Spending, Arnold, But Keep Your Hands Off The Tribes
Libertarians applaud Governor Schwarzenegger's resolve to cut government spending, but decry his call to make Indian Gaming Tribes "pay their fair share."
Wildomar, CA (PRWEB) January 8, 2004 --The following is a statement by Libertarian Political Action Alliance founder Gene Trosper in reaction to California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger's State of the State address:
"The Libertarian Political Alliance (LPAA) would like to applaud Governor Schwarzenegger's resolve at cutting government spending. It's refreshing to see a public servant question the need to support government programs and agencies at the expense of hardworking taxpayers."
"While we are hopeful that government spending in California may well be cut, we are nonetheless dismayed at the governor's renewed call to make Indian Gaming Tribes 'pay their fair share.' The LPAA defends the right of tribes to not only keep every penny they earn, but to spend it in any manner they choose. With the advent of indian gaming, they have built schools, improved water systems, strengthened health care and contributed to local economies. For the state of California to seize a portion of their income would only serve as an economic detriment. We call on citizens of California to reject the governor's call to balance his budget on the backs of others."
The Libertarian Political Action Alliance is a non-partisan organization dedicated to working for limited government, tolerance, individual liberty, peace, and free trade.
