Dancing all the way Om....
Thomas Barquee's New Release, 'The Sound of Om' is a chant album you can't help dancing to.
(PRWEB) January 7, 2004 --Dancing and Chanting, the audience at the November 22nd Chant/Dance concert at LA's Golden Bridge Yoga were losing themselves in the deeply moving and surprisingly playful music of Thomas Barquee as he joined World Sacred Music Star, Snatam Kaur, in an evening of a whole new genre of music.
'The Sound of Om' has hit the new age music scene with a splash. As a follow up to Barquee's Grammy hopeful 'Missa,' he has pleasantly surprised his fans with an album that has the kind of danceable beats one would expect from REM but with lyrics from ancient Sanskrit chants that are at once deeply moving and headily uplifting.
As Barquee's sixth album, Barquee's extensive experience as a musician, producer, and composer reveal themself clearly in 'The Sound of Om.' Barquee has worked as a producer with Seal, Patrick Leonard, and the rising star Snatam Kaur, to name a few. He has composed and produced scores for several feature films and TV shows.
Barquee's voice ranges from a soft, light touch, to a deep moving force. These vocals play atop the incredible ensemble of instruments woven into this album. Barquee travelled to India to collaborate with some of India's most talented classical musicians on this album. He then merged the traditional Indian instruments with the more modern Western keyboards, guitar, and percussion in an auditory masterpiece.
If you haven't heard him live, you are missing an outstanding experience beyond just the music. Barquee has joined forces with Snatam Kaur on a World concert tour aptly named 'The Shanti Om Experience' that kicks off on January 10th at Golden Bridge Yoga in Los Angeles. This tour will be in North America for the first half of the year, with schedules available at www.spiritvoyage.com. If you love the mix of rhythm, chants, and inspiration, these concerts are a must, and you'll dance all the way Om!
